Constantly Seeking Approval.

Constantly seeking the approval of someone whose opinion means so much to you, yet that person makes you feel worse about yourself than you have in months. Why do we torture ourselves? I always have good motives, yet they one thing that shines is that of failure. I don’t really know what I am doing. My fluctuation in emotions are affected my good habits, and my self worth. I feel like I can’t get back to that place where I am inspired and motivated. Pushing back anxiety about a life change on the brink of happening, and feeling less than important at the same time. I put my dream back on the shelf and continued to live the life that I’ve become accustomed to. The life that someone made me feel I deserved. The life that society decided for me. I forgot about what I loved. “You are not worthy of any extra attention from me, you don’t have the body for it” is what my teacher would of said had she not been receiving my money every month. The psychological effects were more than enough, though so I put the dream on the cold, empty shelf and continued to live the life that was deserving of me.

You and I are like Recipes.

My life feels different. I’ve gone from this positive, inspired person who enjoyed eating well and exercising to someone who feels inadequate, sad and I am not reaching my full potential. Quite frankly, I’m sick of it! My body is noticing the changes, too – craving bad food more often, and my weight is going up and down considerably. I know why I feel this way. I’ve let someone into my life who makes me feel this way. This is my opportunity to show how strong I am, though.

My friend sent me the most beautiful e-mail last night and I want to quote it here – everything:

“You and I are like recipes, in fact we NEED recipes in our lives. If we can’t plan in advance and control a situation, we fall to pieces and are anxious! We can’t make ‘cakes’ in our lives without recipes. You and I can’t just open the fridge and use what we have got, imperfect as it is, that makes us panic and fear!!! I know this is true for both of us! Having said this, that’s why we fall to pieces in relationships and expectations –there are NO recipes for relationships. In cases like this we have to take risks and work with the ingredients we have, we have to put ourselves out there as scary as it is or else we will never receive ‘food’. I’m obviously speaking in analogies here!

My prayer for both our lives is we can learn to not rely on recipes for success, because they fail us! Point is, we can never control a person’s feelings/thoughts about us. Apologising and acting perfect never works! Striving to be perfect is impossible! I am so over trying to say the perfect thing, look perfect, be the perfect colleague/daughter/friend, be the perfect size etc. These recipes don’t work or make me feel better! I am so over striving and performing. Want the recipes to go out the window and for us to fly like birds!”

Sunshine in my Life.

I feel like a second class human being today. Not too long ago, I spent a good few months taking time to take care of myself and not allowing people into my life, because of my fear of getting hurt. I feel strongly that I should consider doing it again. I’m tired of feeling too much, thinking too much, drinking too much, fucking up too much and I’m tired of people who essentially have no regard for others. I’m tired of the way people treat each other every day, myself included. I hate the way that most humans can be and are cruel. I hate that all good deeds go unnoticed with the drop of a hat.

When do I get my turn to have sunshine in my life?
